Alimony - Not all alimony is permanent. Courts look at numerous factors, including the length of the marriage, the age and health of the parties, and future earning capacity, before deciding if alimony is appropriate, and for what period of time.

Forms

The following is a list of forms and documents that you may want to bring with you during a meeting with your attorney.  They are required to be filed in all divorce and most family actions. 

  • A Confidential Litigant Information Sheet, to be filed with a complaint for Divorce or Dissolution.  This information is kept confidential and is not disclosed to the other party.
  • Family Law SoftwareA Case Information Statement, used by the court to determine financial issues in family cases.  Clients can download a software program to help prepare a Case Information Statement here
  • A Certification of Insurance Coverage to be filed with any complaint for divorce, listing all insurance policies involving the family.
  • A Certification and Verification of Non Collusion - a document that must also be filed with the court alongside a complaint for divorce or dissolution, stating that the party is not seeking to obtain a divorce for any improper or fraudulent purpose.
